The Farm has gone through many changes over the years. Charles’s Mother Rosemary was brought up on the farm which at the time had 2 herds of Friesian cows making the best opportunity of producing milk from the lush water meadows bordering the River Frome.
Farming has recently faced many challenges and changes have had to be made. Although we are still farming, we have had to diversify and adapt. The Farm is now managed environmentally under various Countryside Stewardship Schemes and cattle and sheep are grazed extensively. Farm workers cottages are now holiday lets and traditional buildings that use to house cattle are now retail environments. We are exited about the future and all enterprises are managed by family members.
Cattle extensively graze the rich pastures & water meadows as part of a Countryside Stewardship Scheme.
Over 100 acres of maize are grown on the farm to feed cattle during the Winter months.
Combinable crops are an important part of crop rotation. Milling wheat varieties are grown for seed production.
The River Frome is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest. Our Nature Trail follows the meandering river rich in wildlife.
Goose is our fox red Labrador who is a little timid but very affectionate once he gets to know you!
We recently stayed at Tincleton Lodge and it was amazing! We were there to celebrate a family member's 40th birthday, and it was just superb. Everyone loved the house, the woodburners, the bedrooms, the bathrooms, the decor, just everything! We carved pumkins outside on the beautiful lawn furniture and if it had been warmer in the evening a glass of something fizzy outside listening to the stream would have been lovely.
